Nov 5th Smoke without Fire?

Rumour has it that the great Chapel-en-le-Frith Market Place Bonfire is again going to happen

bonfireanim This event seems to manage to survive each year despite the many difficulties modern society puts in its way, it is a tribute to the resolve of those local folk who maintain a tradition that has allegedly been kept alive over the years  by local Landlord’s using a bucket to stage a token fire and for many years run by the local milkmen!

We have reason to believe that this November 5th will see another staging of a community Bonfire and suggest that parking in the Market Place central area should be avoided from late morning on Thursday (It’s Market day anyway!)

The bonfire is usually lit at about 7pm and continues until late.

Donations of Money or Fireworks (Money is preferred as it allows discount quantities of Fireworks to be purchased) are always welcomed as unlike other local Bonfires this is free to visit and is not subsidised by Local Authorities. The event is financed largely by donations from Local Businesses in the hope it will give all our local kids a great memory of a traditional bonfire night, even in difficult times like this many of them help generously and we ask local people to bear this in mind when looking to buys goods and services, support your local businesses and they do give back in all sorts of ways the “sheds” and “mega-corporations” despite their high prices and glitzy presentation do not seem able to do. (Alan Sugar eat your heart out!)

Please remember to stand well back from the Bonfire and any Fireworks as not only does this keep you safe it gives you a better view as well!

Enjoy!
