Chapel has a bakery and more
Yet another business which quietly fermented whilst we were in the midst of lockdowns and staying apart by 15 meters or more is “The Old Town Bakehouse”, imaginatively hewn from the outbuildings to the rear of the Kings Arms, a bakehouse initially featuring sourdough bread, but now so much more from Pizza’s to burgers in a bun

During the spring and summer of 2021, baker Steve Carroll and partner Lisa laboured to setup a bakery in an outbuilding that had been used as a garage behind the Kings, into a new and unusual business, a bakery store, a takeaway food and breads now morphing into a beer garden that adds outdoor and breakfast features to the Kings Arms
They opened at the beginning of November 2021 (brave souls), and rapidly gained a local reputation for excellent breads, cakes and a range of savouries
Their products can be ordered online, plus of course as a takeaway
A marque was rapidly added to the front of the store allowing alfresco breakfasting and brunches, proving popular with not just locals, but also tourists. passing cyclists and other travellers,

The Old Town Bakehouse is not simply located in an outbuilding of the Kings arms, but there is an element of co-operation which allows them to provide snacks etc within the Kings Arms in the mornings, it will be very interesting to see how this develops.
