WARNING – Deadly Ice Fri 14th Especially Pavements

This morning we have drizzle falling onto our freezing but ungritted roads, sheet ice is forming. The pavements are even worse, please take utmost care – don’t be clever clogs – yours truly has already taken a really hard smack on the back & head even though I was aware of the ice and thought I was safe!

The big question is where are the gritters? – this weather was expected – we have seen no gritters each evening of this freeze, and this morning when they should belatedly be out they are for the most part still all in “bed” at the Chapel depot.

Clearly from the traffic reports we already have injuries, lets hope no worse.

We understand that the local Police cars have been “grounded” due to unsafe road conditions, it’s reassuring to know that our emergency services are coping so well with the winter conditions.

This problem will dissolve – literally as the temperatures rise this morning, but it needs to be a warning as we have a large part of winter still ahead
